When any dialog (Open, save as, about Kate, about KDE, settings, hotkey
settings etc.) is closed, Kate gets an X Window System error and quits
without crash dialog.
EDIT: It only happens when workspaces are on.

Still happens for me. Are you sure that you have Unity and workspaces
are enabled?
