I also use a SSD. The standard Kubuntu installer did fail (13.04).
Obviously the Hack from Red did solve the dpkg error, but I am wondering
what causes this error.

^ Grub is also installed on my SSD hard drive too. It might have
something to do with the SSDs..

Yep I have this problem - very frustrasting that the 13.04 install can't
handle this nicely. Resorted to the boot-repair utility on the linux-
secure disk (formally ubuntu secure). This got the system booting but
left this error which occurred everytime I installed something.

I had the same problem, and I went to freenode, #ubuntu and asked for
help. It seems the postinstall script just fails at cleaning up.
A dirty quickfix is to open "grub-efi-amd64.postinst" in /var/lib/dpkg/info/
with a text editor as root and adding "exit 0" right after 'set -e' in the top

I'm experiencing the same problem with Grub uefi. My system is a single OS rig
with Ubuntu Gnome 13.04 installed using the 3.10 kernel (issues with a 7750
graphics card!). The Grub issue was also present before I upgraded the kernel
from the Ubuntu kernel ppa.
