I can reproduce the error with the carport-1 file from the xfig-site.
I am getting the following error:

xfig works ok in another machine with ATI card, using radeon open source
driver. So it's probably a bug in the intel driver. In my ATI machine

Yes. it's the same. I am trying to collect an error report against Xorg ---
it's clearly a bug on the server side. Although I do not know if it's the same
bug.
I tried to reproduce it into an Xnest server, but it crashes the main server
too...
