So I tried your workaround guys "sudo pm-powersave false" and doesn't
work for me. Still have 70 - 100 % usage cpu .. sometimes more 100+ :D.
So I decide to try install Xubuntu-desktop.. when I switch to xfce
everithings works well with all efects ..compiz etc.. CPU stay between 4
- 8% . Should be
Same issue here. When charger is connected everything works great on
battery totally disaster. OS is unusable. This is really BIG BIG PROBLEM
for laptot users which today are almost everyone. - I have Ubuntu
12.04.4 32bit, Kernel 3.11.0-18-generic, AMD HD 6370M with proprietary
drivers.

This is also occuring with my laptop. Occuring since the new nVIDIA
driver 331.20 on Kernel 3.5.0-45-generic (AMD64) using 12.04.3 LTS

I'm guessing this is a feature, but I'd like to turn it off. I don't
mind if my computer only lasts for an hour without an adaptor, I want it
to run fast. At least tell me that we're going to scale back.

Hi,
Same issue here. Since around 1,5 month laptop gets terribly slow when running
on battery (was ok before). CPU usage runs close to 100% (but laptop is not
heating up).
Ubuntu 12.10; Nvidia Quadro FX 1800M
"sudo pm-powersave false" helps with this issue. Thanks for tip Luis!
