3.8.0-7 for sure as I used it for quite long time and USB 3.0 hdd is my
backup drive. According to backup logs last one was 2 weeks ago so
3.8.0-13 was probably faulty as well cause I booted it 13 days ago.

linux-image 3.9.0-030900rc5.201303311835 boots in very ugly way on my
machine. Only CPU0 is up (i7-2600K has 4 cores + HT) and there is no USB
working at all so I can not login to check.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.9 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both
the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.
