Hi,
Sorry to say but this has been a long-long time ago. Since I use Ubuntu
14.04 multiple times reinstalled or upgraded the system. This trouble
doesn't exist in my current system and I have no means to check out on a
configuration described in the bug.
Can't help with that.

Have you tried running chromium from the command line "chromium-browser
--disable-gpu"?
