I think it's being refreshed, when I add files on desktop they are
disappearing and reappearing (like it always happened) don't know why
cpu usage is not increasing

Actually in older versions the cpu usage % would increase as we
continuously refresh using F5, and the icons or the mouse pointer would
show loading symbol, but in 13.04 mouse is not showing the loading
symbol and not only that the cpu % in conky or multiload indicator are
not showing increase in c

when i press F5 in the previous versions the icons on the desktop used to
get refreshed but now nothing is happening

what do you mean "refresh"? the desktop should never be "outdated", the
active views have file monitor and should display any file being added
or removed without you needing to "refresh"...
