In Feisty you need to install the openprinting-ppds-extra package for
Savin PPDs, to save space on the desktop/alternate cd these are not
included by default (see below).
Dapper had the foomatic-filters-ppds package installed by default with static
PPDs (including Savin PPDs).
Since Edgy dynamica
There is already such a package: openprinting-ppds-extra. This package
is not included by default due to the limited space of a single CD. With
openprinting-ppds-extra installed you have all PPDs from the
OpenPrinting databse.

Downloaded ppd files from
http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Savin-8030 and made new folder
/usr/share/ppd/openprinting/Savin
I then placed the ppd files there and gzipped them. Now Savin is an
