I believe I've fixed up the likely cause. (NB TearFree is still
experimental.)

Xorg crashed with SIGABRT - sna_put_image() with drawable=0
** Description changed:
This bug has been haunting me for a couple of weeks now.
It happens only sometimes when I interact with tabs in Firefox or
Chrome/Chromium (all three tested, both stable and beta), about 3-5
times per day.
What did I do before the crash:

The problem exists in 12.04 as well.
