Paul can you please open a new bug report about you issue, i do believe
we are working on using xulrunner in gutsy just not there yet. I am
closing this as it is fixed.

I can confirm that eclipse no longer crashes, so that is a good start.
However the browser still does not load.
I also find that 'sh /usr/lib/firefox/run-mozilla.sh /usr/bin/eclipse'
does not work for me, as in eclipse does not crash, but it does not load
up the browser.

Anyone else on gutsy, please confirm that this is the case.

try without xulrunner installed:

The best solution that I have found so far is that presented in comment

apt-get xul-runner

I think I got hit by this, and found a temp work around.
Eclipse wants to use Firefox libraries by default.
Since the Eclipse/Firefox interaction is broken, we have to avoid
this. There is an eclipse option under window->preferences->General->Web
Browser,
do NOT select "Mozilla".
If you are li
The problem appears with firefox 2.0.0.4+2 also. firefox 2.0.0.4+1 works
fine.

I tried the free vm, the embedded browser works but embedded jetty doesn't play
well with gcj and stoped working .
firefox_2.0.0.4+1 (festy) works but firefox_2.0.0.4+2(gutsy) doesn't work.

The easiest workaround is to start eclipse like so:

Since then it cannot find mozilla, and then does not try to load (and

Just to add a new data point here. I was also having this problem, and I
had the following JDKs installed:
ii sun-java5-jdk 1.5.0-11-1ubuntu2
Sun Java(TM) Development Kit (JDK) 5.0
ii sun-java6-jdk 6-00-2ubuntu2
hmm ...
for me it doesn't crash, but it might be related to java vm, since i am
on amd64 and there no sun java available.
However it works well with free vm for me here.
I will setup a 32-bit chroot and see if i see this as well.

I put it under firefox because I suspect it to be firefox problem
