I've subscribed to all usbredir bugs and will do what I can to help

This is *so* close to being in main. As I said before, this would be
approved if only a team would commit to maintaining it in main by
subscribing to Ubuntu bugs. Presumably the Server Team? Serge?

Hi there,
What is the reason this bug is still open ?
I would like to use the usb redirection feature:
the only usecase for me at this time is an ubuntu host that i use as a desktop
that hosts a windows 7 virtual machine via kvm / qemu that I access via the
spice client.
As such I do not feel t

Serge, it depends upon the details of libvirtd implementation. libvirtd
could create a new, unique bridge for every guest that will use
usbredir. Or, libvirtd could insert iptables rules to allow access to
usbredir to only specific guests.
Thanks

@Seth,
thanks for the detailed review. Can you expound on what "should not be
used in security-critical infrastructure" means? Is that meant as
guidance to users, or would linking libvirtd against it be contradicting
that advice?

Ick, seems like a slippery slope caveat, in the sense that people will
forget.
I reviewed the packaging and such, and
I reviewed usbredir 0.6-2 as packaged in saucy. This should not be
considered a full security audit, but rather a quick gauge of code
cleanliness.
- usbredir provides a client/server mechanism using libusb to make USB devices
from a host available to a guest, or remote, operating system.

Because qemu provides qemu-system-x86 which is in main and would link
against that library.
