Which version of the vpnc package are you using?
This sounds like bug #93413 (vpnc dead peer detection disconnects
immediately) which got fixed through an update for the vpnc package in

Occurs for me to. Connection drops randomly within a minute,
consistently, every time I connect on fiesty.
The version on LTS release works without problems.

Which is version vpnc (0.3.3+SVN20051028-3)
And this resolved the problem.
