Lots of issues with VIA codecs are solved with latest ALSA drivers, so
upgrade the driver: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS
After you restart/reboot, you may have to adjust some settings. In terminal,
run this command:
alsamixer
