My original problem occurred with mp3's. I'll check asap if it occurs
with ogg's as well.

I just started experiencing this problem after upgrading the following
packages:
kdebase-bin (4:3.5.6-0ubuntu20.1) to 4:3.5.6-0ubuntu20.2
kdebase-kio-plugins (4:3.5.6-0ubuntu20.1) to 4:3.5.6-0ubuntu20.2
kdelibs-data (4:3.5.6-0ubuntu14) to 4:3.5.6-0ubuntu14.1
kdelibs4c2a (4:3.5.6-0ubuntu14) to 4:3.
I cannot find anything similar in the KDE bug tracker. However I find
this a strange problem: the crossfade works as expected on my laptop but
on my desktop the above problem occurs. Both run Ubuntu Feisty (final).

You re
Crossfade is known to be a bit unstable. Right now the devs are working
on porting to Amarok 2.0, so I don't know how much time they can devote
to tracking down bugs in the stable 1.4.x series.
Please search bugs.kde.org and see if there is another bug similar to
this one that we can link to from
