I am using Ubuntu 14.10 now so it is no longer an issue, but was for me
when I was using Ubuntu 12.10.

"Open music lens, click on the filter > Sources & set to Rhythmbox only
Then see if you can preview any of the files shown.
So here when the music lens is set to 'Sources' > All it will often show
