The KDE4 version of Kopete has this option. To enable it, go to Settings
-> Configure... Then go to the "Chat Window" section. In the colors and
fonts tab you can select to disable rich text.

Kopete serves my needs perfectly except for this one very vexing issue.
Can we upgrade this to a bug? I submit that this rises above the level
of "Wishlist" as rich text being on causes "buggy" behavior for users
such as myself; Whenever I neglect to turn it off when IMing a new
contact they receiv
