There are essentially three sets of "supported" nvidia drivers provided by
NVIDIA (see

). In Feisty nvidia-glx-legacy corresponds to the 71xx series of drivers,
nvidia-glx corresponds 96xx series and nvidia-glx

Well, with the nvidia-glx you get the famous "black screen". AFAIK,
GeForce4 440 Go requires the legacy drivers, and it does actually
work, sans the APIC.
