Sorry, it seems we cannot do much anymore for debugging this error case.
After one more hour usage, the system partition disappeared from the partition
table. The ssd is probably at the end of its life (and I expect after
fixing/reinstalling I would get again all sorts of disk errors).

Can you run a retest of the installation.
When it works, please set the status of the report to invalid.
When you encounter the same problem, please set the status of the report
back to new.

Hi,
thanks for investigating! The downloaded iso of 12.10 was ok, but I found that
the hard disk (ssd) had disk errors and file system errors. I could fix these
(and backed up data).
I assume that was the reason for the broken packages.

Can you download Ubuntu12.10 again and verify the download by checksum?
