I have the same problem, with a Pentium 4 Mobile CPU. After the message
"MP-BIOS bug 8254: timer not connected to IO-APIC"
Ubuntu starts normally, but tends to freeze unpredictably. With previuos
versions of ubuntu there wasn't any problem. The only workaround i've found is
to put "noapic" optio
I failed to notice that after the error message, it flashes past the
screen: "Loading, please wait"
