You're absolutely right. I have only those two plugins loaded.
I'm using the no effects session, and I think I will keep using it, it works
faster on my computer.

Looking at the screenshot I bet this is the same bug as

To verify, after logging into the normal Gnome Classic session, check
~/.xsession-errors and see if only the 'core' and 'ccp' compiz plugins
are loaded. If so you can workar
Everything works normally if I choose Gnome Classic without the effects.
