Hi Daniel,
thank you for your help. Unfortunately the proprietary driver (fglrx) doesn't
work with my graphics card Radeon HD 3400 in Ubuntu 12.10, whereas it did in
Ubuntu 12.04.
Hope it will be solved by

Jaromir,
Please try running "jockey-gtk" to see if a better graphics driver is
available. If there is one that supports your graphics card AND supports
Unity then it will solve this problem.
