Again, I would like to thank you, Dustin, for this awesome software.
I installed the `screen` package in `trusty` and when I launch `byobu` I
get `tmux` as the backend. So all is well in `trusty`.

Hi, Dustin,
Yes, $BYOBU_BACKEND was set to tmux before byobu ran. Along with more
$BYOBU_* variables.
But why would it be? I don't have it in my ~/.bashrc and not in my
~/.profile . Perhaps /etc/profile.d stuff involved?

Hi, thanks for the report!
This might happen if you already have the variable defined in your
environment, $BYOBU_BACKEND.
Before launching 'byobu', try echo $BYOBU_BACKEND and see if that's
defined. I suspect it probably is...
