On my Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A with Edgy the kernel options noapic,
nolapic, acpi=off and irqpoll don't help this problem. Neither does
removing hplip packages.
What's interesting is that the computer always hangs immediately if I
switch on the Canon bubble jet printer connected to the USB port.

P.S. It seems somewhat connected to the hplip package. This is the last
package loaded before kdm is started. After removing it, Kubuntu seems
to run stable - at least for now...

No, unfortunately it's not. This "too much work for IRQ11" thing
happened to me after upgrading Kubuntu to Edgy Eft. The X Server was
broken, but it was fixed by the first Edgy updates. However, after the
latest package updates, I get the same thing over and over again
whenever I open a window. Mos
