Changing desktop icons in desktop preferences doesn't update properly

I usually want to disable the 'home', 'trash' and 'file system' icons
from my desktop. With the 'Desktop Preferences' menu from Xubuntu Feisty
(up-to-date) the effect is not immediate, and in fact, it didn't work
after reboot either. But it does indeed work with the 'None' --
'File/launcger icons'
Do you still have this issue with an up-to-date Xubuntu Feisty ?

You can change the configuration by selecting "None" in the Desktop
Icons pop-up menu, then select "File/launcher icons" again.
