Can you please try liferea 1.2.13 from http://emilio.pozuelo.org/deb/
and see if it fixes your issue?
If you don't know how to build it, do the following:
$ sudo apt-get build-dep liferea
$ sudo apt-get install fakeroot
$ dpkg-source -x liferea_1.2.13-0ubuntu1.dsc
$ cd l
