I restored audio back on my Asus A8Jm by copying mentioned files. (audio was
lost after update to Ubuntu 7.04)

well thats the end of the road for ubuntu in my life then (at least for this
release) I cant even know if sound will work on a laptop without updating?

Now experiencing this issue on an Asus A8Jm. Originally had no sound
altogether as per bug filed:

After today's updates to 2.6.20-15, sound returned, but am unable to
change volume in any way. Doing so immediately stops sound entirely.
2.6.20-13 was th
2.6.20-15-generic has the same issue. -13 is still the only one working
properly for me.
Booting -12 and then booting into -14 does nothing here.
