Hi. I posted before about this issue. I upgraded my PC to an Atlhon X2
3800+, and geforce 7300GT GPU and ubuntu AMD64 (another PC basically).
I enabled Desktop effects after a clean reinstall of feisty, and I could
see window borders!!! but later, ubuntu asks for update my nvidia
propietary driv

Hi. I have same problem, but using AddARGBGLXVisual fix or removing
compiz configurations not solve it. If I enable desktop effects, always
window borders disappear (including window title, close, minimize and
maximize buttons). Terminal window has a problem, because I cannot view

Good news! I managed to solve the problem by removing all compiz gconf
configurations:
rm -R ~/.gconf/apps/compiz/
Now desktop effects is working perfectly. Maybe there where some bad
gconf configurations at my system preventing compiz to work well.

Hi there,
I'm having the same problem. My video card is a NVIDIA GeForce™ Go 7200.
I have the AddARGBGLXVisuals option set but when I enable Desktop
effects I get no window borders. When I execute desktop-effects at the
console I get the following error:

The reccomended way to install the nvidia drivers now is to use the
restricted drivers manager because it will do the "AddARGBGLXVisuals"
for you.
Are you still having this problem? If so, try running "sudo nvidia-
xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals" and then restarting X (or rebooting).

Same happened to me. Added
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
to xorg.conf in Device section and it worked, though I'm having trouble
with the maximize button.
