Does this problem still happen for you on Ubuntu 7.10 with
openoffice.org 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu5.3?
I think the problem that some users are reporting are due to specific
presentations that Impress has trouble opening, but older versions of
Impress would crash on every document, so I am not sure

Same Probem in Ubuntu 7.10 whit no compiz or emerald active. The process
consumes almost all memory.

Same problem in Ubuntu 7.10.

not getting an apport report but I do get the OOo crash recovery
