I have run the new wsjt 9.3 under 12.04 successfully, & the existing
package wsjt 5.9 does not work, so, yes, I think that 12.04 & 12.10 should
be updated with the new packages.
Are these SRU something that I need to initiate? If so, how?

The problem has been fixed by wsjt version 9.3.r2792+dfsg-1 in Ubuntu Raring
(13.04).
For earlier Ubuntu versions precise & qantal, the same fix is available in my
PPA at https://launchpad.net/~jnogatch/+archive/wsjt9

This install is a upgrade from 11.10 via the upgrade manager.
When runnig "wsjt" from command line in a terminal window the result is:
