I am using 3.2.0-27-generic x86_64 kernel without any suspend problem.
I have tried many combination of power off/on, reboot into Win7and
suspend/resume, then reboot into Linux and it seems still working.
So I hope regression has gone for other user as well and case can be
finally closed.

Since the bug has not been solved for me, I have done bisection to find the
problematic commit between the kernel Ubuntu-3.2.0-24.37 (works perfectly) and
Ubuntu-3.2.0-25.40 (it always doesn't work).
Every time I installed the newly compiled kernel, I powered off the laptop and

This bug has not been completely resolved!
Before today it always worked fine since I upgraded to 3.2.0-26 kernel.
But today it started to give exactly the same problem of 3.2.0-25
kernel, my laptop poweroff when I resumed from suspend.
I haven't well understood what Csaba has written in his last

I have a Dell Latitude D531 with Radeon graphichs.
When I turn on after suspend some times it just turns off immediately
and some times it just works.
Do you need any further information?
manmathan@laptop2-D531:~$ lspci -nn

Case is more complex then I had thought.
Finally 3.2.0-26 still not as good as -24 was for me.
There are two different ways of power on
1. normal power on
2. battery removal power off, then on (it is necessary to remove battery to
be able to switch on in case of suspend/resume poweroff bug)
@Joseph
I have already confirmed above that -26- solved my problem.

@Csaba Lack
The 3.2.0-26 kernel has been released. Can you update to this kernel
and verify that this bug is fixed?
@Paco, The bug was set to "Fix Commited" because the fix for the bug
was in the -proposed repository and not in -updates as of yet.

More info, and a question.
The info: I made additional tries with kernel 3.2.0-26. Most times, it
powered off after resuming, but sometimes it restored backlight and then
just got stuck (no image and no keyboard response). Searching the forums
I found the latter problem was happening to some peopl

I have a HP Pavilion dv5-1030el and I was affected by this bug.
I solved the problem by upgrading to 3.2.0-26 kernel from ubuntu-
proposed like you suggested.
I give you some additional info if you need it for debug purposes:
I started experiencing the problem when I upgraded to 3.2.0-25 kernel.
I enabled the proposed repository to upgrade to 3.2.0-26-generic, as
@csabka suggested.

Still powering off during resume.
As I said before, I would be glad to test more bisections

@unratito: what was your "uname -a" when you tested it? what is your

I'd like to start bisecting this to find the commit that introduced the
