Hi Christopher,
I will not need a backport to a release prior to Saucy (I'm compiling
and running the kernel 3.9.5).
I don't think the status should be changed to Invalid but to Fixed, as
their is a specific fix in the kernel 3.9.5 for this issue.
Here is a copy/paste from the 3.9.5 log:

Hello,
I have this soundcard/laptop only since Oneiric, and the bug was already
happening there.
I am now running Quantal Alpha 3 and can still reproduce the bug.
I now tested the bug on:
tested on:
- 3.5.0-7-generic
- 3.6.0-030600rc1-generic
And can reproduce in all cases.
