I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 x64 with Unity.
Procedure to reproduce bug:
1) Open Writer
2) Maximize window (alt-F10)

Simply using Synaptic to fix broken packages after the upgrade failed
fixed any problems for me. I haven't seen any evidence of instability.
