The process name is actually pointer-capture-applet. Hmm. I'm not sure
what package it's in. I do know, though, that it is one of the applets
that comes up when you right click on a panel and select add to panel.
There, it is just called Pointer Capture.

pointer-capture-applet and lock screen
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-applets
I'm using the 64-bit version of the Jaunty Jackalope beta.
This bug occurs when you have the pointer capture applet loaded, you
click on it to capture the pointer, you try to lock the screen (it won't
lock, although that's not the bug I'm r
I forgot to mention in my last comment that the error did appear on my
other computer.
Anyway, my other computer has slower USB ports—probably 1.0 or 1.1,
while my laptop's are 2.0. The copy took its time on the desktop. When I
compared the folder sizes again, there was only about 1MB's difference
I tried it on my other computer just to make sure it wasn't computer
specific. My other computer also has only Ext4 file systems and it also
has the Jaunty Jackalope beta (only it's 32-bit instead of 64-bit like
my laptop's).
I should note that I did wait for the file operations copy progress bar
All right, I tried to reproduce it, and guess what? I did.
Anyway, it says it can't dismount it and some other stuff in a message

Here's what the message box with the error said:

This issue occurred about a week ago.
I got an error when I copied files to my USB drive, deleted the files I
copied from (i.e. the files on my internal hard drive), emptied the
trash and dismounted my USB drive.
Anyway, the key thing seems to be that I deleted the source fi

I've noticed that sometimes, if not every time, when I dismount a USB
flash drive it will give some such as the following message:

That's all it says. I believe I've seen it other times with varying
amounts of words showing, but it generally seems to cut

I notice that, in nautilus, when I right-click on a mounted Ext4 volume

Binary package hint: fbreader
In every version of Ubuntu I've tried, FBReader's preferences won't
save. I set them up how I want them, close the program, and when I open
it again it's like the first time I opened it.

I didn't have another package manager open. The problem didn't recur.
I'm on the beta now, though. I think it was particular to those
updates—so I don't envision it recurring again any time soon. It didn't
happen in the beta version.

Error after check (in update manager)

Public bug reported:
On 26 Mar 2009, using the update manager (in Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope

I pressed the check button. It went on for a while downloading and when
it finished it gave me the following error (it said to report i
I confirm this bug on Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10, too, although the login
sound when disabled is the same one I get when it is disabled. It does
not always play when disabled, but it often does. I'm thinking about
putting a dummy custom sound in that doesn't make any sound instead.
Anyway, I want it disa
Yes, please upgrade this, even for Gutsy (I've invested too much in it
to want to go to Hardy any time soon; at least on this partition).
