Public bug reported:
Plasma global menu does not show menus for GTK applications such as
LibreOffice, Gimp, Inkscape, Firefox, Thunderbird, etc.
Although I found and even reported this bug in particular projects, it
looks like they are unable to speak with each other, so I report this
also here.
I can confirm this issue having Yoga 500 ISK (Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5500U
CPU @ 2.40GHz).
Symptoms: keyboard automatic repeating works randomly, mouse block
selection works randomly (unable to select particular text block),
battery randomly disappears from the panel, unable to control
brightness.
Hi guys!
I have this problem long time. The overheating may not explain the
issue, however the issue itself is closely connected to the power
management of the hardware.
I investigated the problem and it is basically caused by the decision of
the HW to switch the mode of the circuit (programma
I believe there is no solution and most likely will not be.
Why:
- The problem occurs in most cases after the warranty period.
- It is also somehow linked to the hardware deeper then one would expect
(seems it lies somewhere in the Intel HDA switch/firmware programming).
Although I still believ
Right, this works to me too, however it brings the sound back for
unpredictable timewindow. With the overall increased laptop load it
stops working very quickly. I made a bash script that sets the power
state to zero every 0.1sec which works, however the result in weird
crackling sound every 0.1sec
Anyway I feel the frustration too. At these days I discovered that VLC
(originally platform independed) music player supports smb:// access
better then Amarok (originally aimed to be the gratest KDE media/music
player). And more then this, they believe (at least "Matěj Laitl"

KDE use KIO-Slaves to access other then local protocol and/or meta-

it is not new idea. Microsoft uses the same technique. Just call it UNC

Sounds weird. As far as I know the radeon is graphics card driver. The
problem with the sound is snd-hda-intel driver related
Would it be possible that it is more related to the power management
that regulate the increased heat produced by the Radeon card (when is)

Title:
Found a crapy workaround here: http://lkml.org/lkml/2013/1/13/11
Get the hda-verb (e.g from here:

tools_0.20110516%7Eoneiric1_amd64.deb )
Extract the 'hda-verb' from the deb package and then run as root:
hda-verb /dev/snd/h
Observations when investigated with the HDA Analyzer (http://www.alsa-
project.org/main/index.php/HDA_Analyzer)
What happened:
1. reloaded the snd-hda-intel driver
2. started the HDA Analyzer in monitor mode.
3. started the VLC and started playing clip => speakers still produce sound

Public bug reported:
The sound works ok and after a while fails/disapears. Can not identify
what I did, however it was ok month or two ago.
I occassionally update recommended updates. My system uses new
backported kernel that is not original to Ubuntu 12.04, however with the
original updated kern
Finally I found the bug is appearing in Dolphin but the root of the
problem is in the polkit-1 configuration.
When edited this file:
/usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.udisks2.policy
The previous behavior is back!

Previously correct handling of LUKS encrypted devices changed after

In the prevous version I had passwords stored in the kwallet and
everything worked well.
After upgrade the KDE fails to unlock the LUKS device. The password is
