The same thing here on Kubuntu 6.10 on Mac Mini PPC. All other sound
related software work fine.
Here is a part of log file before and after error message

On my Ubuntu 6.06 crontab works only if username parameter isn't user i.e
* * * * * root /opt/euro-beta/notify_spintec doesn't work
* * * * * /opt/euro-beta/notify_spintec work

user crontabs don
values in menu.lst file and try update-grub
to see, what happen and let you know.

Is there anybody who cares about ubuntu users and about perception of
stability and reliabilty of Ubuntu as a distribution ?!?
