The one thing all the reporters (including myself) seem to have in common is
that we're all using scim, so I believe that this is a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/scim/+bug/66104
Fortunately, that defect also includes work-around information.

I'm also having this problem. When knetworkmanager first tries to connect to
my wireless network, it asks me for the WEP password for my network. After I
enter it, it just sits there with the gear spinning (apparently at 0%). When I
check the wallet, there is no entry for knetworkmanager, so

problem disappeared with the fresh install. That leads me to believe that this
is one of:
- Differences between the resulting images of upgrade and fresh install
- Problems introduced by one or more of the ACPI settings ch
