Since I have already migrated to Lucid I don't know about Karmic, but
the issue is not fixed in Lucid's kmplot 4:4.4.2
(see the attachment). The issue is easy to reproduce - just plot x^2,
save as .svg and open in Inkscape.

I have exactly the same problem.
After upgrading to ubuntu 9.04 my usb mouse stopped working with laptop.
Mouse: A4Tech OPTO 518
Laptop: Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pro v3515 / Toshiba Satellite A300
