Now I switched to Nvidia graphics (from intel integrated graphics), and
the freeze problem never appear any more. However, I think this should

Public bug reported:
For a few times a day, the PC freezes.
I didn't do anything special when the freeze takes place. And after the
PC is frozen, mouse and keyboard has no response (including kernel code
like alt+sysrq+reisub does nothing).
ProblemType: Crash
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10
Package:
Finally I found it is my problem instead of a bug: previously (without
the add mod3 setting in my reply #2) I didn't actually bind Alt_R to
hyper (mod3) at all! It is still Mod4, recognized as super. Thus please
close this bug report. I think I cannot close it or delete it myself.
Sorry about this
Although I still don't think the hyper key behaves correctly in Unity, I
have found a workaround for this. The trick is to delete hyper form mod2
and add Hyper to mod3 in the xmodmap settings.
clear Lock
clear Mod1
clear Mod4
add Mod1 = Alt_L
add Mod4 = Super_L
add Mod3 = Hyper_L
clear control

When I shade a window (either by setting window to roll up / down upon
mouse wheel, or keyboard shortcut), and then unshade this same window,
the window lose focus when mouse is not inside the window.
For example, after I unshade a gnome-shell window, then I can only input

Today when I connect to external display (both from suspend or when the
laptop is running), display freezes with random colors on it. Neither
keyboard or mouse is responsive. Even Ctrl-Alt-Backspace does not work.
I could only reboot using kernel command SysRq-reisub.
