I have a workaround :)
1. run gconf-editor
2. on the left open desktop -> gnome -> peripherals -> touchpad
3. on the right, mark the box tap_to_click
4. enjoy the tapping
But why this in unchecked by default???
In System -> Options -> Mouse on the tab Touchpad I have enabled click
by tap

I upgraded to Karmic alpha3 from Jaunty and after logging into gnome,
touchpad still works but doesn't support clicking by tapping. In XFCE4
on the same system it works OK. System -> About GNOME tells me:
version of gnome: 2.27.4

I confirm that in gdm it works, even if GNOME is loaded and I select
Switch user. And what more, it looks like a gnome problem, because in
XFCE4 everything goes well! So we should probably close this bug as
INVALID and open it in gnome package.

have ServerAliveInterval 15 in my .ssh/config (or use -o
ServerAliveInterval=15 on the sshfs command line) This will force the
ssh connection to stay alive even if you have no activity. This is
written in the sshfs FAQ (zcat /usr

exact reason of this issue.
