I found this error after an upgrade to 8.04 server. It seems the
default my.cnf file is only listening on the localhost (use netstat -l
-t -p to determine) & look for the mysql entry that reads:
tcp00localhost:mysql ...
If you have this, then you are only listening on the localhost.
The problem here seems to be confined to Nautilus. I used SmbK4 (on
gnome actually) and it is fine with the shares. this is a good work
around but it doesn't address the problem. There was an update to
Nautilus yesterday and since the update, it ceases to function. Before
