This bug has been fixed upstream. Maintainers here just have to package
bibletime 2.9.2 if at all possible.
Have downloaded and built that version and it doesn't have the problem.

Bible text window is blank, except when you choose a different version
of the bible to read. Then the new version flashes on the screen and
disappears. leaving the window blank again.

question asked player to choose the odd one of four. of the four, three were
reptiles and one was not. game chose that as the 'right' answer.
this is a mistake.
three also had legs and another did not, making that other an acceptable
candidate
