Unfortunately gdm is the "wrong" choice, and causes breakage in sound
control, removes the shutdown button from kde's menu, and perhap
The dialog still isn't very fast. At least with a timer the computer
will still shutdown even if you walk away before seeing a warning
message, but you can also change your mind. Why keep people from adding
it back?

Could you reconsider the -wontfix designation?
As people have said here more eloquently than I can, there is room for
more than one way of shutting down. I for one really liked the timer
because I'd often walk away without realizing my desktop was still on at
the dialog screen. I found thi
This affects me as well, but in the final version (kernel compiled april
11).
Had to boot my laptop with apci=off, then run sudo service lxde start.
Not the most serious of bugs, but only if you know what you're doing.
