I just wanted to add to this since there really hasn't been any change.
It's not even recognising the media now, so it's just intermittent.
There's a blank CD in that particular drive now.

Well I would have to say no, if you look at the attachments that I
included that have the screen shots of the disk utility. It seems as if
the media is being recognized but not automatically mounted and
unmounted when installed and removed. It wasn't even recognizing the

Public bug reported:
Hello all, I am having a problem with one of my burners since I upgraded
to 10.04 from 11.10, it's a lite-on DH20A4P-04. It'll mount the disc at
startup and for an unknown amount of time after startup. But at some

Scratch the last workaround I posted. At first it appears to improve the
situation however under more severe load the problem resurfaces.
I found that one somewhere and tried it myself before I reported the bug, it

Public bug reported:
After the upgrade I noticed very choppy audio with all of the media
players installed, like a very poor quality CD skipping. For some reason
only music audio is affected, not video.
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10
Package: xorg 1:7.6+7ubuntu7
ProcVersionSignature
I haven't tried any video yet, just with audio, it's very choppy. Almost
like a bad CD that is skipping, everything was fine until the upgrade.
