I also have this issue. Same as reported in bug report.
Bug did not exist in 10.04, and possibly not on the original release of
10.10.

Why not make a silly dummy package with something like the fix in #68.
Then brasero could depends on that. For me the cdda2wav provided by
icedax works, but only when "fixed" like #68.
Isn't it a basic expectation that unskilled users can copy a cd? Why
wasn't this a showstopper bug?

I agree that bug 508130 is a duplicate.
I also note per bug 508130 that I can get gpib 3.2.14 to compile, but I
don't know whether those modules *work* in Karmic. I'm not able to
upgrade the OS version on the computer(8.04) using the gpib until I know
gpib will work, because I use it every day.
I'm using karmic, gnome.

3.2.11 won't compile on Ubuntu 8.10. One of the source files calls the
kernel "kill_proc" function, which has been removed as of linux kernel
2.6.27. This is an upstream problem with gpib-modules source 3.2.11.

Installed in Hardy.
The program starts, but complains that the cenon library isn't installed.
However, if I try to open a file or do anything, it crashes. No error

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gpib-modules-source
gpib-modules-source in 8.04 is version 3.2.09. Kernel in 8.04 is
2.6.24. gpib-modules-source-3.2.09 won't compile with kernel versions >
2.6.22 due to kernel symbol changes. (This is also documented in the

I have essentially the same bug. In this case, my hard drive requires
the via82cxxx module (at bootup) in order to enable dma. Without dma,
the whole OS is almost too slow to use.
Leszek's workaround using his modules compiled for 2.6.24-17 works for
me.
