They can actually stay with 8.10.
At least for my mobility radeon 9600 everything is ok with this last
driver (except dual monitor support)...

No good for me with a mobility radeon 9600
Generated the packages, installed the dependencies and the debs but
after restarting the screen just went blank on the gdm login...
Maybe with the next release...
