The whole ubuntu-drivers thing didn't work for the same reason as
fargoth's. But then I ran 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' while on TTY and it
finished the installation. I did have to reboot 3 times before I could
get to TTY, for some reason...

I got the same thing. The terminal has been stuck at this for over an
hour now. I had closed it and then it told me to run 'sudo dpkg
--configure -a'. I did, and then it got stuck at that part again. Now I
can't install anything or even open Synaptic until this is fixed, it
seems. Can't I just go b
Is it possible that this has something to do with a weird character in a
label name? I renamed a few labels recently, adding a "~" to them, and
after I renamed them in Checkgmail, it stopped working, wouldn't launch
and all.
I'll delete the .checkgmail directory, and see how it goes after I try

goodmacman, I know my problem has nothing to do with heating... It's not
really a usb stick, even though it uses the rt73usb driver... Sometimes
I've just turned on the computer and the driver dies because I tried to
access Google Reader when GReader is in one of those bad server days...

for now I did what you said and am back with rt73usb. either way, it be much
better to get a stable connection, specially considering it's
darn, that didn't work.
it recognizes the wlan0 and wlan0 seems to be up, but I can't use the
internet. when I do the dhclient wlan0 it seems like something goes wrong:
No DHCPOFFERS received.
No working leases in persistent database - sleeping.
