After changing it to -o filenames, still the completion failed for several
programs
e.g. running dpkg -S /us[tab] results in /usr (then space)
Removing /etc/bash_completion.d/acroread.sh fixed it.

I have solved the problem by installing latest alsa linuxant driver:
http://www.linuxant.com/alsa-driver/alsa-driver-linuxant_1.0.18git20081020-1_all.deb
Everything works now.
I have only these errors now in the log:
