I can confirm this bug is still present in 11.04 with a fully up-to-date
system, kernel Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 11 03:31:24 UTC 2011 (Ubuntu
2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2).
I have an ASUS U81A laptop and backlight brightness was not adjustable
with stock settings (it DID worked in Ubuntu 10.04). dmesg s
I just want to add that this is not related to suspend or hibernation.
The computer is configured to only blank the screen when the lid is
closed.
