If you want to simply fix the opening of files but retain XFCE/exo you
can simply open "exo-preferred-applications" and change the preffered
"file manager" under "utilities" back to "Thunar"
I'm guessing the install of XFCE changes this default, anyway flipping
it back to thunar certainly fixes th

avail the lockups still occur :(

up [this is my second attempt to write this post ;) ]
i also found some people saying to drop to 16bit colour but i dont
believe this to make any real difference.
if anything i'd be tempted to push on into edgy rather than roll back
... but thats just my $0.02

p.s. i notice this bug has changed status to 'in progress' for upstream,
does that mean there is effort going in to resolve
7;ve had one week of running **touch
wood** with no freezes (previously my dapper install would randomly
freeze after anywhere from several minutes to several hours - rarely
more)
not sure if its the exact same bug but the symptoms tally.
