After some months I have unfortunately to correct my last posts: the workaround
I posted works at 90% but many times the card drops many packets.
Moreover even when it works the performance are very poor: 2-3Mbps vs the real
speed of 12-13Mbps.
So the problem remains.

On Ubuntu 12.04 now USB camera (with XD card) is correctly recognised.
The only errors I have found is a "medium error" on some blocks. I have run a
badblocks but no errors is returned. The strange thing is that with all of my
